Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy possible transfer to Liverpool FC was terminated last night after the England striker failed a last minute interview cliche´test set by the club.
Vardy is understood to have been excited by the move to Anfield and is said to be “devastated” by the last minute rejection.
“He’s gutted” said Leicester teammate Andy King “They’d agreed a fee, arranged a settlement for the Foxes and passed his medical only to fall at the last hurdle” he explained.
Jamie is understood to have faced a grueling 30 minute mock-interview test, in which a series of typical post-game questions were put to him. Sources at the club have suggested that, “on more than one occasion”, Jamie responded to the reporter’s enquiries with “coherent sentences” and, as a result was deemed unsuitable for the club.
“It’s something we take very seriously at Liverpool Football Club” explained Liverpool press liaison officer Steve Verbs. “Obviously, it’ll be tough for the lad, obviously but he’s a young man and he’ll bounce back from this.” re remarked. “Obviously he’ll go away and work hard at what he’s gotta do and he’ll learn from this, obviously” he went on. “He’s a great talent obviously and one we’d love to have at Liverpool football club. We’ve got some of the best fans in the world here and, when you put on that shirt and cross that line, there’s no better place to play the game, obviously”
Jamie Vardy was unavailable for comment….obviously
