DIY and home improvement chain Bunnings have announced a new three year sponsorship deal with Cricket Australia.
With the recent cancellations of existing sponsorship deals, following the shock revelations of ball tampering in the Test series against South Africa. The ACB are said to have been seeking new “relevant” partners for the next year.
Speaking at yesterday’s press conference, Head of Sponsorship and game influence Mark Sanders laid out the details of the popular home improvement store’s backing of the national team.
“we’re delighted” Mark explained. “It’s a natural partnership for us and will help us to make considerable savings to our ‘game enhancement’ budget” he stated.
Although not clear what specific products are included in the arrangement, sources suggest the deal, expected to begin in 2019, is set to involve complimentary “abrasion assistance” items in addition to the agreed financial support.
“It’s a win, win for us” explained ACB’s Geoff Gritter. “We can’t wait to take delivery and get started” he enthused.
Sources close to the governing body have suggested that players in the team’s management group will now undergo a lengthy product familiarisation training period in preparation for the summer.
