Aussie opening batsman David Warner is rumoured to be considering making an audacious  move to secure the Australian spot at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

With a recent dip in form, problems with concussion and still recovering from injury in India, Warner knows his chances of securing a visa for the UK are fast diminishing

Keen to seal his place back at the top of the Aussie batting order, talk around the training camp has suggested the extraordinary idea that he’s planning to submit his name for the international singing competition in a bid to gain entry to the country.

With the Perth-based, progressive metal band ‘Voyager’ currently in place as the country’s official participants, Warner is said to be in negotiations with their agent to join the group.

“The idea may sound crazy”, said Head of Recruitment at Eurobee “but Eurovision has a long traditional of outrageous entries” he continued.  Experts surrounding the high-status competition have suggested that his near talentless musical abilities might just make him the perfect fit.

Keen amateur crooner Ponting is said to be disappointed at the move

Whilst it’s not known what role Warner might play in the band, sources close to the cricketer have indicated a recent obsession with the ancient art of playing the saw.

Warner is said to have suffered a number of Saw-related injuries while training for the show

It’s not clear if he secured the instrument at the same time as large quantities of sandpaper were purchased in 2018 but, regardless of where it was obtained, he appears hopeful of mastering it in time for it to act as his ticket to Ashes 2023.
