Following the success of BBC’s ‘Any dream will do’ and ‘I’ll do anything’ talent contests, executives at the broadcaster are in discussions to repeat the format with a series aimed at finding the next “special one’ at Old Trafford.

With the working title “How do you solve a problem like Mourinho”, the show will see contestants competing in a series of managerial tasks over 12 weeks, with the public voting for their favourite.

Managing medical staff, handling awkward questions at press conferences and exercises in attributing blame are all understood to feature in the new series, set to reach our screens early in 2017.

“we’re really excited by this” said BBC’s Mark Dribbler. “Since losing the broadcasting rights to the live games, we’re delighted to be playing such a significant part in the shaping of the Premier League”.

Other Judges rumoured to be in discussions with the show’s producers, include Sven-Goran Eriksson, Kevin Keagan and Great British Bake Off queen Mary Berry.
