Gareth Tumbler has begun legal action against his local gym after enduring what he described as “workhouse-like” conditions at the popular fitness centre.

Papers submitted to the court detail how, following an indulgent Christmas, Mr Tumbler took advantage of the “early bird” deal being offered from Sheffield based gym ‘FitnessFab’.

Along with hundreds of fellow sofa-dwellers, Gareth signed up for gym and spa use for 2017.

“It seemed like a fantastic idea,” he explained. “It’s just a couple of minutes from my house”

However, after signing the contract and attending his first session Mr. Tumbler was dismayed to discover that the gym offers no café facilities and rooms, once used for drinking and socialising had been replaced with fitness equipment.

Furthermore, upon reading the small print of his agreement, it appeared that he was free to end his subscription with the gym at any time. “What benefit is there in that” he ranted “I can’t say I’m a gym ‘member’ if I’m not tied in, can I?” he explained.

Sources at FitnessFab confirmed that an official complaint had been received and a petition to reinstate the café was gaining momentum on the member’s Facebook Page.

Gareth has been joined in his campaign by over 80% of post-Christmas subscribers and says he’s determined to take his case “all the way”. Meanwhile, for now it seems, Mr. Porter will have to made do with utilising the fitness and healthcare facilities.
