Executives at the ECB are set to announce details of a new, woefully awful countrywide T20 competition for 2017/18 in an effort to make the deeply unpopular City Franchise idea look like an excellent idea.
Concerned at the dwindling support from county chiefs and a less-than-enthusiastic response from fans across the country, the ECB feel a new, even less thought through scheme will boost the viability of the project.
“It’s something we’ve tried before” explained Graves. “Bringing under prepared concepts and policies to the press, prior to any detailed discussion or analysis, is a practice we’ve employed on a number of previous occasions”
Management at the governing body are busy giving the details of the new plan a cursory glance, with a release to the press expected prior to the expected release date.
